Huntington Bank Field opened on September 12, 1999 as Cleveland Browns Stadium, built to bring the Browns back to Cleveland after the original franchise relocated to Baltimore in 1996. Built at a cost of $283 million, the stadium sits on 31 acres in the North Coast Harbor area between Lake Erie and the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway.
The venue has had several naming rights: Cleveland Browns Stadium (1999-2013), FirstEnergy Stadium (2013-2022), and Huntington Bank Field (2022-present). The open-air design provides dramatic Lake Erie views from the upper deck, but also means exposure to notoriously harsh Cleveland winter weather.
The Browns have announced plans to build a new domed stadium in Brook Park (near Cleveland Hopkins Airport) with an expected opening in 2029. The new venue will retain the Huntington Bank Field name and feature the largest concourse in the NFL. The current stadium will continue to host Browns games until the new venue is ready. Progressive Field (home of the Cleveland Guardians) is nearby in downtown Cleveland.
Huntington Bank Field has restrooms on the Lower Concourse (100 Level) and Upper Deck (500 Level). Family restrooms are reserved for guests with small children and guests with disabilities. The stadium has wide concourses and the open-air design means Lake Erie weather exposure.

The Muni Lot (municipal parking lot) between the stadium and Lake Erie is legendary for its raucous Browns tailgating. It opens at 7 AM for 1 PM games and the tailgate scene is intense. The portable restroom facilities in the Muni Lot are basic — use downtown restaurant restrooms before heading to the lot.
Lake Erie weather is brutal in late season. Wind chill off the lake can drop temperatures dramatically in the upper deck. Dress in heavy layers for November-December games. Restroom lines spike at halftime as fans rush indoors — go during the 2nd quarter.
East 4th Street in downtown Cleveland is the best pre-game dining and drinking district, about a 15-minute walk from the stadium. Restaurants like House of Blues, Pickwick & Frolic, and GOMA are popular choices with public restrooms.
A new domed stadium in Brook Park is planned to open in 2029. This current lakefront stadium will continue hosting Browns games until then. Enjoy the Lake Erie views while you can — the Upper Deck Section 505-510 offers some of the best lakefront panoramas in the NFL.
Progressive Field (Cleveland Guardians) is nearby in downtown Cleveland. On rare days when both teams play, the downtown area gets very congested — plan parking and restroom stops accordingly.
For cheap parking, use Tower City Garage ($10), Riverview Lot ($8), or West 9th Street Lot ($12). These are downtown within a 15-minute walk and much cheaper than lots adjacent to the stadium ($40-50+).
