Ford Field opened on August 24, 2002, replacing the Pontiac Silverdome as the home of the Detroit Lions. Built at a cost of $500 million, the 1.85 million square-foot domed stadium was designed by SmithGroupJJR and incorporates a renovated section of the historic Hudson's warehouse on its east side.
The stadium hosted Super Bowl XL on February 5, 2006 (Steelers vs. Seahawks), the 2009 NCAA Final Four, WrestleMania 23, and the 2024 NFL Draft. As an indoor venue, Ford Field provides climate-controlled comfort year-round — a significant advantage during Michigan's harsh winters.
Ford Field sits in The District Detroit, directly adjacent to Comerica Park (home of the Detroit Tigers), making it one of the most convenient sports complexes in America. The two venues share surrounding entertainment, dining, and parking infrastructure. The stadium features four levels of suites, a level of club seating, and a ground level with restaurants, concessions, and retail.
Ford Field has restrooms on all concourse levels — Lower Concourse (100 Level), Club Level (200 Level), and Upper Concourse (300 Level), plus suite levels. As an indoor stadium, all facilities are climate-controlled year-round. Men's and women's restrooms are distributed around each concourse with pairs every 3-4 sections. Family restrooms are available on all public levels.

Family restrooms with baby changing stations are located on the Lower Concourse near Sections 107 and 119, on the Club Level near Section 218, and on the Upper Concourse near Sections 325 and 337. A nursing room is available near the First Aid station on the Lower Concourse.
Restrooms are accessible once inside the stadium. Gates open 2 hours before kickoff. Greektown restaurants and Comerica Park area businesses have restrooms available before the game.

Ford Field and Comerica Park are adjacent in The District Detroit — you can walk between them in 5-10 minutes. The surrounding area has excellent pre-game dining and bar options that serve both venues.
As an indoor stadium, Ford Field is climate-controlled, so you never have to worry about weather affecting your restroom experience. This is a major advantage during Detroit's brutal winters.
The Upper Concourse (300 Level) restrooms are consistently less crowded than the Lower Concourse, especially at halftime. The walk up is worth it for shorter lines.
Greektown is a 5-10 minute walk from Ford Field and has excellent restaurants with public restrooms. Use them before entering the stadium to avoid the initial rush. Pegasus Taverna and Golden Fleece are local favorites.
For the cheapest parking, use Greektown lots ($15-20) or Eastern Market lots ($10) — both are a short walk from the stadium. The QLine streetcar runs along Woodward Avenue with stops near Ford Field for $1.50.
The stadium incorporated a section of the historic Hudson's department store warehouse on its east side — you can see the original brick and architecture in the east concourse. It gives Ford Field a unique character that newer stadiums lack.
