Comerica Park opened on April 11, 2000, replacing the legendary Tiger Stadium at Michigan and Trumbull. Built at a cost of $300 million, it was designed by HOK Sport (now Populous) to blend modern amenities with old-school baseball charm. The stadium sits in Detroit's Foxtown neighborhood, directly adjacent to Ford Field (home of the NFL's Lions), creating one of the most concentrated sports districts in America.
The ballpark is famous for its tiger sculptures — eight giant tigers sit atop the scoreboard in left field, two prowling tigers flank the main entrance on Witherell Street, and 33 tiger heads ring the upper facade. A 50-foot-long tiger with glowing eyes perches on the left-field scoreboard. Other distinctive features include a Ferris wheel, a carousel with hand-painted tigers, and a liquid fireworks fountain in center field.
Comerica Park seats approximately 41,083 fans and features one of the longest outfield distances in baseball — 420 feet to dead center when it opened, later reduced to 412 feet. The park has undergone continuous improvements, including a 2026 addition of a Universal Changing Table in the Family Assist Restroom outside Section 210, accommodating adults with disabilities at 70 inches long and up to 500 pounds capacity.
Comerica Park has restrooms across three concourse levels — Lower Level (100), Upper Level (200), and Upper Deck (300). All restrooms have baby-changing stations and are wheelchair accessible. The stadium has a total of 5 companion/family restrooms.
All restrooms have wider stalls, lower sinks, mirrors, soap and towel dispensers. Elevators are located on the first base side behind Section 109 (Tiger Club and 200 sections) and on the third base side behind Section 130 (Suite Levels and 300 sections). Companion/Family restrooms are located behind Sections 120, 139 (Lower Level), 210 (Upper Level), 320, and 342 (Upper Deck). The Family Assist Restroom at Section 210 features a new Universal Changing Table (70 inches, 500 lb capacity) added for 2026.
Restrooms are accessible once inside the stadium. Gates typically open 90 minutes before first pitch. Outside, the nearest public restrooms are at businesses in The District Detroit along Woodward Avenue.

If you're walking from the parking garages, the Tigers Garage has an elevated pedestrian walkway that leads directly into the stadium — saves time and avoids street-level crowds.
All concourses and restrooms are open. Gates open 90 minutes before first pitch. The Lower Level concourse behind home plate sees the heaviest traffic during the 5th and 7th innings. The Big Cat Court area (Section 120) is a great family gathering spot but expect longer restroom lines there.
Concert configurations vary. Most Lower Level and Upper Deck restrooms remain open. Some premium-level restrooms may be restricted. Ford Field events next door can create parking congestion — plan extra time.
