Rate Field opened on April 18, 1991, as the new Comiskey Park, replacing the original Comiskey Park that had served the White Sox since 1910. The stadium was renamed U.S. Cellular Field in 2003, then Guaranteed Rate Field in 2017, and finally Rate Field in 2024 after its naming rights sponsor rebranded.
The ballpark was one of the last of the old-style symmetrical stadiums built before the retro-park movement that began with Camden Yards in 1992. It seats approximately 40,615 fans across six levels: Service Level, 100 Level, 200 Level Suites, 300 Level, 400 Level Suites, and 500 Level. Major renovations in 2001-2005 added the FUNdamentals Deck in center field, reshaped the upper deck, and improved sightlines.
The stadium sits in Chicago's Armour Square neighborhood on the South Side, with the CTA Red Line's Sox-35th station directly adjacent — one of the closest transit connections to any MLB stadium. The White Sox are famous for their passionate South Side fan base, Comiskey Park-era traditions, and the exploding scoreboard that fires off pinwheels and fireworks after every White Sox home run.
Rate Field has 38 public restrooms with men's and women's washrooms on all levels throughout the ballpark. Changing tables are available in all men's and women's washrooms. The stadium has six levels: Service Level, 100 Level, 200 Level Suites, 300 Level, 400 Level Suites, and 500 Level.

A family restroom/gender-neutral washroom is located in Section 106 on the 100 Level. This is the only dedicated family restroom in the ballpark. All men's and women's restrooms have changing tables.
Restrooms are accessible once inside the stadium. Gates typically open 90 minutes before first pitch. Outside, the nearest public restrooms are at the Sox-35th Red Line station and nearby businesses on 35th Street.

The Sox-35th Red Line station is literally steps from the main gate — one of the closest transit connections in all of MLB. Take the train and skip the parking hassle.
The 500 Level restrooms are the least crowded in the stadium. If you have a 100-level ticket you can go up there, but not the other way around — 500-level tickets can't access 100-level concourses.
The family restroom at Section 106 is the only one in the entire ballpark, so expect a line. All regular men's and women's rooms have changing tables as an alternative.

Restroom lines peak during the 5th and 7th innings. Hit the restroom during the 3rd or 4th inning for the shortest wait.
