Raymond James Stadium opened on September 20, 1998, as the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, replacing Tampa Stadium ("The Big Sombrero") which had been their home since 1976. The $168.5 million venue was designed by HOK Sport (now Populous) with a capacity of 65,890.
The stadium's most iconic feature is the 103-foot, 43-ton steel-and-concrete replica pirate ship in the north end zone, designed by former Walt Disney Imagineers. The ship fires its cannons seven times for each Buccaneers touchdown and three times for each field goal. Buccaneer Cove, the area surrounding the ship, features a weathered two-story fishing village facade housing concessions and restrooms.
Raymond James Stadium hosted Super Bowl XXXV (2001), Super Bowl XLIII (2009), and most notably Super Bowl LV (2021) — where the Buccaneers became the first team to play and win a Super Bowl in their home stadium, led by Tom Brady. The venue has also hosted multiple college football bowl games, international soccer matches, and major concerts.

On non-event days, the nearest public restrooms are at restaurants and businesses along N Dale Mabry Hwy and W Hillsborough Ave.

The pirate ship fires its cannons on every Buccaneers touchdown — seven cannon blasts that you feel in your chest. Sit in the north end zone for the closest experience, but be warned: it is loud.
Tampa is hot and humid for early-season games. The open-air stadium offers no escape from the sun. Bring sunscreen, wear a hat, and drink water constantly. The concourse provides shade, and restrooms offer a brief cool-down.
Buccaneer Cove's fishing village facade in the north end zone has its own concessions and restrooms that are often overlooked — lines tend to be shorter than the main concourse.
The family restroom at Section 128 is the only one with an adult changing table. If you need that specific accommodation, plan to use that location.
