SeaWorld Orlando opened on December 15, 1973, as the second park in the SeaWorld chain (after San Diego). The 200-acre park was built on the shore of a natural lake in the heart of Orlando's tourist corridor. Originally focused on marine life shows and aquarium exhibits, the park evolved to include world-class roller coasters beginning with Kraken in 2000.
Major milestones include the opening of Journey to Atlantis (1998), Kraken (2000), Manta (2009), Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin (2013), Mako (2016, the tallest, fastest, and longest coaster in Orlando), and Ice Breaker (2022).
