About Disney's Animal Kingdom
Disney's Animal Kingdom opened on April 22, 1998 (Earth Day), as the fourth theme park at Walt Disney World. It is the largest theme park in the world at 580 acres — more than twice the size of Magic Kingdom. The park was designed by legendary Imagineer Joe Rohde, who spent years traveling to Africa and Asia to ensure authenticity in the park's architecture, landscaping, and animal habitats.
The park opened with Africa (featuring Kilimanjaro Safaris across a 110-acre savanna), DinoLand U.S.A., and Discovery Island (centered around the 145-foot-tall Tree of Life with 325 animal carvings). Asia was added in 1999 with Expedition Everest following in 2006. The park's most transformative addition was Pandora — The World of Avatar in 2017, featuring the groundbreaking Flight of Passage attraction and bioluminescent environments that glow at night.
Unlike other Disney parks, Animal Kingdom houses over 2,000 animals from 300 species across genuine habitats. The park has contributed more than $100 million to wildlife conservation efforts worldwide through the Disney Conservation Fund.
Restrooms Inside Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom has restrooms in every area: The Oasis, Discovery Island, Pandora — The World of Avatar, Africa (Harambe Village), Asia, and DinoLand U.S.A. The park also has a dedicated Baby Care Center on Discovery Island near the Tree of Life. All restrooms have baby changing stations.
All restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Companion restrooms are available in Discovery Island, Pandora, Africa, Asia, and DinoLand U.S.A. The Baby Care Center is fully accessible. Animal Kingdom's paths are wide and mostly flat, though some areas like Pandora and Asia have gentle inclines.
The Baby Care Center on Discovery Island (near Creature Comforts/Starbucks, left of the Tree of Life) offers private nursing rooms, changing tables, bottle warmers, a kitchenette, feeding area with high chairs, and kid-size toilets. Baby supplies available for purchase. Companion restrooms serve as family restrooms throughout the park. The Boneyard playground in DinoLand U.S.A. is a popular kids' play area with nearby restrooms.
Restrooms are available near the park entrance. The parking lot does not have standalone restroom facilities.

Discovery Island(3)
Located near Creature Comforts (Starbucks), to the left of the Tree of Life, just before the bridge to Africa. Offers private nursing rooms, changing tables, bottle warmers, kitchenette with microwave and sink, feeding area with high chairs, kid-size toilets, and a rest area. Sells diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, sunscreen, and medications.

Insider Tips
Animal Kingdom is the largest theme park in the world at 580 acres. Bring a stroller even for children up to age 6 — the walking distances are significant. Stroller parking is available near every restroom and attraction.
The Africa restrooms near Harambe Market are less crowded than those near the Kilimanjaro Safaris entrance. Use the market restrooms and grab some food from the Harambe Market stalls at the same time.
Use the restroom BEFORE boarding Kilimanjaro Safaris. The ride lasts about 22 minutes and there are no facilities during the safari. Similarly, Flight of Passage in Pandora has a very long queue — use the restroom before getting in line.
The Baby Care Center on Discovery Island is tucked near Creature Comforts (Starbucks). Grab a coffee at Starbucks and then use the Baby Care Center — they are steps apart.
The Boneyard playground in DinoLand U.S.A. is a shaded, fenced area where young children can dig for fossils and climb. It has nearby restrooms and is a great spot for a restroom break while kids play.
Animal Kingdom opens the earliest of all Disney parks (often at 7:00 or 7:30 AM for early entry) because the animals are most active in the morning. Hit Kilimanjaro Safaris first for the best animal sightings.
Pandora — The World of Avatar is stunning after dark when the bioluminescent plants and environments glow. Plan to visit Pandora in both daylight and after sunset. The area has restrooms so you do not need to leave.

Regular Park Day
All restrooms are open during park hours. Animal Kingdom typically has shorter hours than other Disney parks (may close as early as 7 PM on some days, though extended hours apply in peak season). Pandora restrooms are busiest during mid-morning when Flight of Passage queues peak.
Extended Evening Hours
During extended evening hours, Pandora and select areas remain open. Restrooms in open areas will be available.
