    Where Are You?

Falls Creek has two types of toilets: heated village facilities (winter) and basic alpine pit toilets (backcountry). Here's what to expect.

    Skiing in the village bowl

    Village Day Parking toilets

Heated, maintained during ski season. Near the main lifts and village centre.

    HeatedWinter staffedNear lifts

The village is car-free in winter — everything is ski-in/ski-out. The day parking toilet is your first and last stop. Most lodges and restaurants also have customer facilities.

    On the ski runs

    Cloud 9 (High 5 run)

The only on-mountain toilet outside the village. Basic but functional.

    On-mountainSki access only

Cloud 9 is the mid-mountain option. If you're skiing the Summit area or Ruined Castle, you'll need to ski back to the village — there's nothing else up top.

    Driving up from Mount Beauty

    Howmans Gap (halfway)

The only toilet between Mount Beauty and the village. 15km from each.

    AccessibleChain bay nearby

Howmans Gap is where you fit chains in winter. It has the best accessibility of any Falls Creek facility — purpose-built for people with disabilities. Use it before the final steep climb.

    Mountain biking (summer)

    Village toilets

Falls Creek has an extensive mountain bike trail network in summer.

    SummerVillage open year-round

The village toilets stay open for mountain bikers, hikers, and summer visitors. The backcountry huts also have pit toilets if you're riding the High Plains trails.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Are there public toilets in Falls Creek village?

Yes. The main village bowl has public toilets near the day parking area and at Falls Creek Resort. During ski season (June-September) these are well-maintained and heated. Outside ski season, some facilities may be closed or have reduced access.

Is there a wheelchair accessible toilet at Falls Creek?

Howmans Gap Alpine Accessible Centre (2587 Bogong High Plains Road) is specifically designed for people with disabilities and has accessible toilet facilities. The main village facilities have limited accessibility due to snow and terrain — wheelchair users should contact Falls Creek Resort Management for current access information.

Are there toilets on the ski runs at Falls Creek?

Cloud 9 on the High 5 ski run has a toilet facility. Otherwise you need to ski back to the village bowl. The village is compact enough that most runs return you to a toilet within 5-10 minutes of skiing.

What happens to toilets at Falls Creek in summer?

Falls Creek operates year-round but with reduced services in summer. The village toilets remain open for mountain bikers, hikers, and day visitors. Backcountry hut toilets (pit toilets) are available year-round. Some commercial facilities close after ski season ends in September.

How far is Falls Creek from Bright?

Falls Creek is approximately 50km from Bright via the Bogong High Plains Road. The drive takes about 45 minutes in good conditions. In winter, chains must be carried and may be required from the chain bay at Howmans Gap.

Are there toilets at the Falls Creek day parking area?

Yes. The day visitor car park at the bottom of the village has toilet facilities. This is where most day-trippers park in winter — it's the first toilet you'll reach after the drive up from Mount Beauty.

Do I need to pay to access Falls Creek toilets?

The toilets themselves are free. However, in winter you need a resort entry fee to drive into Falls Creek ($52 per car per day in 2024, or a season pass). The Howmans Gap facility is below the resort entry point and doesn't require the fee.

Are there toilets between Mount Beauty and Falls Creek?

Howmans Gap Alpine Accessible Centre is the only toilet on the 30km road between Mount Beauty and Falls Creek village. It's approximately halfway up. There are no other facilities on this steep alpine road — use Mount Beauty toilets before starting the drive.
